- Fill out a Foster Home Application on our website
- Wait for a 4P4L representative to contact you about arranging a home visit
- Once you are approved, let us know what kind of dogs you would like to foster (puppies, seniors, big dogs, little dogs, male, female, etc.)
Our Foster Care Contract
As a foster care provider for 4 Paws 4 Life Rescue, you are agreeing to the following conditions:
- To accept and consider the animal as a household companion, not as an outside pet.
- To provide humane care and treatment including proper food, clean water, shelter, and exercise, as well as reasonable amounts of time to adjust to new surroundings
- To immediately notify 4 Paws 4 Life Rescue in the event of the foster animal's illness or death.
- To provide emergency medical/veterinary care UPON ARRIVAL by 4 Paws 4 Life Rescue and to use veterinarians approved by 4 Paws 4 Life Rescue.
- To safeguard the animal from loss or mishap
- Not allowing the animal(s) to run at-large, unsupervised
- Not expose the animal to know dangerous conditions such as aggressive animals
- To immediately notify 4 Paws 4 Life Rescue and local animal control if the animal is missing
- To NOT give or sell the animal to another person, including relatives, rescue groups, a humane association, shelter, or pound, or medical/experimental laboratory or similar organization.
- To NOT allow an experimental laboratory or similar organization access to the animals
- To NOT permanently alter the animal's appearance in any way (e.g., cropping, docking, etc.)
- To NOT allow the animal if unaltered, to have access to other animals of the opposite sex that are also unaltered.
- To allow 4 Paws 4 Life Rescue to make periodic visits as sanctioned by the Colorado Department of Agriculture as often as deemed necessary.
- To immediately notify 4 Paws 4 Life Rescue of any changes in address or contact information.
- To immediately notify 4 Paws 4 Life Rescue of any plans to move out of the state of Colorado during the foster care period.
- To immediately notify 4 Paws 4 Life Rescue of any changes in circumstances that may affect my ability to adequately provide for the animals.
- To return the animal(s) at the request of 4 Paws 4 Life Rescue at any time, for any reason; and I understand that adoptive families are approved or declined by 4 Paws 4 Life Rescue only.
- To agree to keep all 4 Paws 4 Life Rescue identification tags on the foster animals for the entire foster period.
- To agree to attend a MINIMUM of 2 Adoption Events per Month with the foster animal(s) and try to attend as many as possibly until the foster animal(s) are adopted.
- Should you decide to permanently adopt the animal, to notify 4 Paws 4 Life Rescue, upon approval, follow the established adoption procedures.
- To understand that the animal has been/will be spayed/neutered and vaccinated by a licensed veterinarian and that the animal's health is accurately represented to the best knowledge of 4 Paws 4 Life Rescue; however, no representations are made as to the temperament or mental disposition of the animal.
- To agree to foster the animal at my own risk and to be solely responsible for any damages to people or property caused by the animal(s).
- To further promise and agree to indemnify and release 4 Paws 4 Life Rescue and its officers and directors of any liability arising from any known, unknown, or unanticipated damages to people or property caused by the animal(s).
- To be fully aware of, understand, and agree to all the terms and conditions of this release and indemnification provision and that it is binding and enforceable by law
